Son Thomas (13) had a major fall off his bike this pm -I am just back from the hospital. He is having open surgery on his arm ( two bad breaks) and will have a metal pin put in his arm and will be in hospital for the week. He is in pain and prayers appreciated. I am dashing back to the hospital now to be there when he awakes from surgery but am thankful for all your thoughts.

Praying, Leonie! I am sure he is miserable, but as I always say, thank God it wasn't his head. 
(And welcome to the club...Paul broke both lower arm bones, and has been in a cast for 4 weeks now, with three weeks to go  ).

My oldest had a similar thing happen when he was 16. He was skateboarding at a skate park and took a bad fall. He broke his arm right where it connects to the wrist and he had to have surgery to repair it. I don't think it was quite as bad as Thomas' break though. 
He was in a cast from his wrist to his shoulder for several months. For him the worst part was he had gotten his driving permit and was supposed to take the driving test a few weeks after the break. He had to wait until he was healed and then practice for a few more weeks. He broke it in September and didn't get his license until the following June.
I hope Thomas feels better soon.
