Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm so disappointed. This is the week of our parish VBS. I'm to be a station leader, ds11 is to be a crew leader, and ds6 is participating. Ds6 was (is) very nervous about doing it - didn't really want to - but because I was going to be there all week, *and* he's in his brother's crew he felt brave enough.

Well, due to a strange rash I've developed over the past two days , I *can't* be at VBS until Wednesday at the earliest. I went to the doctor's this morning to rule out anything contagious, but they can't rule it out and so said I should wait till Weds. before being around children.

I'm a wreck. Our Station is covered, but I know ds6 will be nervous without his mama there. And I'm nervous because my kids aren't used to "school-like" kinds of activities. I'm almost always there somewhere at their activities, or dh is. I am nervous that they will stray from their group, or get confused or left behind. All the usual nervous-nellie kinds of things.

Dh is bringing them over and he'll stay for a bit, but he can't lead in my place because he didn't go through the training and CORI reports etc.

It's only for a few hours, but could I ask for a few prayers that my children will do fine - ds6 won't be too anxious? I know it's silly to worry, but I always feel better knowing my friends here are saying a prayer for us.

Thanks so much everyone.

Dawn, I can relate to your worries, I feel I am very sensitive when it comes to the children like that - I will remember you in prayer today.

I hope that rash comes to nothing!

I forgot to add, because I am prone to that sort of worry, I find the 'antidote' is to ask Our Lady to cover the children with her Immaculate Mantle and I consecrate them especially to Our Blessed Mother that day.

If I am really worried, I promise Our Lady a novena through her miraculous medal for the salvation of a hardened sinner. Sound unusual? Well I am a GREAT worrier with the children!

She is the perfect mother to the children, I am the imperfect mother to the children - so I reason, "if I trust myself, HOW MUCH MORE can I trust my Mother and theirs?"

Dawn, I worry in the same way. My ds6 went to daycamp (Cub Scouts) last month. I fully intended to attend each day with him because he did not want to go alone. One day I could not go because the baby was ill. He had to go with another mom and her son. I worried the entire time. Turns out he had fun anyhow but I was glad when I could return the next day.

I will pray for your sons and that your rash will depart promptly!

Love,

I'm with you, Dawn. It must be very disappointing to volunteer so much of your time and energy and then not be able to be there to enjoy the fruits of your efforts along with your children. I'm sorry. I'll pray that others involved will be helpful and flexible with whatever changes you need to make in order for your family to feel right and comfortable with your new situation.

I'm praying for your not-so-small prayer request .

Love,

Prayers being offered, Dawn.
And, your feelings are quite the norm.
I'm one who might easily throw up her hands and say, "Let's just have VBS here at the house."

But, chances are they will have a great time and your anxiety will be for naught.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.    Yesterday went well! The boys enjoyed "Fiesta!" and ds6 is excited to go back today.

Also, my rash looks like its clearing up! I call the doctor today and hope for the go-ahead for tomorrow ...

Just wanted to say I was thinking of you all today and grateful for your prayers. Our VBS week is almost to its end and I'm so happy to say it's been going very well ~ the boys are enjoying it very much! They did *fine* without me Mon-Tues ( ), my rash is *gone* and I've been having a great (though exhausting ) time since I started in as volunteer. (I'm doing the games station with a *very* energetic 18 yo! ) What a happy experience this week has been ~ I have been so buoyed by your prayers and support! God bless and Viva!!
