Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for him. He's trying to get all kinds of building projects done in the next couple of days (he leaves in a little over a week). His wife is very worried about his safety, and all the pre-deployment stress is really weighing on them both. In addition, this wonderful man just had to take emergency leave for his dad's funeral, and he is just beginning to work through all his grieving.

Their family really needs prayers at this time...and for the next 6 months.

Thanks!

I'm sorry but I just have to laugh here! My husband does the same thing everytime he goes away. The preceeding week or two are almost worse than the deployment itself! He means well - so thoughtful to try to make everything "perfect" so I won't have to worry about a thing - but oh the craziness of it all! .

Your friend and her husband will most definitely be in my prayers.

Cici,

You're exactly right...we go through this as well, and I've learned to expect extra stress, but this couple has only handled one other (aircraft carrier) deployment prior to this. In addition, they received about 1 month's notice for this, and they certainly didn't expect a death in the family.

I did try to tell them both that the stress and arguments were totally normal!

Thanks for the prayers,

Aren't they though?

My prayers for both of them.

Thanks, everyone! I haven't been able to talk with them today (I'm supposed to lend them my Riverdance tape but can't find it...please ask St. Anthony to help), but will let them know tomorrow.

A side note...he's 110% Catholic and she's pretty much anti-Catholic. (Long story...) I'm the only Catholic mom she'll talk with, as far as I know, besides her mother-in-law. During this deployment, the kids probably won't get to CCD or to Mass...I'm hoping do do what I can, but that's up to the Good Lord. Even getting the kids to my house (where I can read saint stories!) would be a start.

I know your prayers will truly help this family. I also know that my friend will deploy with a lighter heart, knowing that his family is lifted in prayer and remembered each day.

I can't begin to tell you how important it is to pray for our servicemembers and their families. When Dad or Mom is deployed in harm's way, the smallest thing back home can become a sudden crisis. Children feel better knowing that the homeschoolers are praying for Mom or Dad. Please consider remembering these families in your prayers each day...my kids know well how hard it is for their friends to get along for months on end without a parent at home. Single military parents sometimes have to send their children to grandparents or other relatives while they deploy, thus uprooting the entire family.

Your prayers are powerful, wonderful, Spirit-ful.   They are heard. They are awesome. I thank you all.
