I am so sad I have to ask for prayers.
A friend of my son's was in a diving accident (way too shallow,) and fractured his C3/C4 vertebrae (we were told the C1 and 2 went one way, and the bottom three went the other way.)
He is in the ICU at UM, on a ventilator, although they are planning on placing a trach (so he can breath from there and be able to speak and eat,) and he is sooo angry with himself.
He is almost definitely a quadriplegic, even though his family is holding out some hope for a miracle that the swelling will go down more and allow for more function.
They are all devastated, and I can't keep the tears from coming. 
Please pray for comfort for him (Matt Kerry-17,) his mom and dad (Diann and Bill,) and his older brother (Bill, also, 19.) He was going into his senior year, so excited.

Update 3 years later: I've been meaning to send an update about Matt. He made a public service announcement that was shown at local theaters this summer. He has been working with U of MI at getting the word out about water safety, knowing the depth before you dive. He is an amazing person, and his family right along with him. Here is the link.
