Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My grandmother is flying in this afternoon for a two and a half week visit. I just found out the dates of her visit a couple of days ago when she bought her ticket. She has not come up from Florida since my father passed away 5 years ago. Then, I had two children, now I have four. She is in her nineties. I am a little nervous that she may get overwhelmed at all the bustle and the increased noise level. She lives alone.

Please pray for safe travel for her and for an enjoyable visit. She will be staying with some other family members until Wednesday, when she will come here. I am hustling around to get the house ready, not because she expects perfection but because I want it to be welcoming and relatively clutter free for our visit.

Thanks so much,

Praying for a peaceful visit with your Grandmother, Rebecca. How wonderful!

Out of curiousity (and b/c I'm nosy) is this the same grandmother that you speak of in your blog? With the aprons, et al? How very special for all of you!

Praying, Rebecca! My own dear grandmother is 92 and *loves* observing all the chaos ~ in managable doses of course! You know what she loves, too? My oldest will sit and read aloud to her from whatever book he's reading at the time. My dh's grandmother also loved this. Just thought I'd mention it!

Prayers for you too as you prepare - I know what that's like!

My grandmother in my blog is my mother's mother, whom I lived with for many years after my parents were separated. She passed away five years ago. I miss her everyday. The grandmother who is coming for a visit is my father's mother, a fiesty, stubborn, independent, beautiful woman who lives on her own at 90, and who could probably outrun me in a footrace!    She is amazing!

We are thrilled to have her in town!

This is one of my grandmother's favorite things to do as well. She was in town when my oldest was 5, he is now 10. He was just beginning to read then and she kept him busy with "Hop on Pop" and "Cat in the Hat" last time she was here.

We are looking forward to spending time with her! What a blessing that she is still with us at 90 years old. She isn't slowing down one bit. It makes me pant to try to walk next to her!
