We are keeping my oldest son's black Labrador Samantha for the weekend (Friday through tonight) while he is at the beach with two of his brothers and his visiting cousin from Canada. She is a very nice dog and Xavier just had her fixed last month. This morning I heard her howl at my dh as he was leaving. She followed him half down our private dirt path (1/4 mile). I sent Lydia out to fill her feed bowl before she left for work, but she didn't see her. After morning chores we started to look for her...to no avail. The children are still out looking for her.
We really should be cleaning like mad as we are expecting the visit of a deacon couple tonight. It's part of the screening process for aspirant deacons. We've had such a busy weekend, the house looks rather neglected ! Augustin's girlfriend was visiting, and yesterday we brought everyone with us to a special OCDS (Secular Order of Discarded Carmelites) meeting and Mass where I was clothed with the Brown Scapular . Then on the return trip we ran out of gas (the gas gauge on our fifteen passenger van is off!). Augustin had to walk to the nearest gas station which took him an hour. By then all ten of us were hot, tired, hungry and thirsty. We decided to stop at a Pizza Hut for dinner (it was already nearly seven o'clock). This made our outing a rather expensive one since we also had lunch at a fast food on the way there! I'm tired just writing about it.
Could you please pray that we find the dog, or better yet that she just comes back by herself, that I do not become too frazzle as the day goes by with so much to do, and that the meeting goes well? We do not have the typical family and the typical house. It’s our hope that it will not distress them too much!

Saying a prayer for you now, Louise. Come home, doggy!
I had a flat tire and no spare on the way home from church a couple weekends ago (while dh was working) and I was lucky that my sister and her husband were not far away when I called them from my cell phone. I know how HOT you must have been in this NC heat!
Hope we can meet one of these days!
God bless!
JoAnna

Praying, Louise. I once housesat for a family, and they had two birds. And they died on my watch. It was devastating to me. I'll pray that everything works out for you!

Praying Louise! St Francis, please help them!....congratulations btw! Does this mean that you are a kind of 3rd order Carmelite? And what does Discarded mean? What made you decide on that particular order? I am just chock full of questions...sorry

Thank you so much for your prayers!
Samantha came back by herself! Yesterday on his way home dh saw her on a loop road near us, stopped the car at the beginning of our dirt path, ran back to the road where he had seen her, and called her... but she was gone again! Lydia was about to walk to that loop road with a leach when we saw Samantha walking down the path! We tied her up securely until Xavier picked her up later that evening.
The five youngest boys were a tremendous help in the afternoon to make our house tidy or shall I say to restore it to an "elegant symplicity"!
Much to my relief the deacon couple was amiable and the visit was relax and pleasant! We have a very good feeling about the outcome of it.
Thank you again,
Louise
