Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to your protection, implored your help,
or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you, O virgin of virgins, my mother.
To you I come, before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O mother of the Word Incarnate!
Despise not my petitions, but in your mercy
hear and answer them. AMEN.

And this novena, suggested by Molly...

Exemplary Mother of the Great Augustine,
You perserveringly pursued your wayward son
Not with wild threats
But with prayerful cries to heaven.

Intercede for all mothers in our day
So that they may learn
To draw their children to God.

Teach them how to remain
Close to their children,
Even the prodigal sons and daughters
Who have sadly gone astray.

Dear St Monica, troubled wife and mother,
Many sorrows pierced your heart
During your lifetime.
Yet you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence and profound faith,
You prayed daily for the conversion
Of your beloved husband, Patricius
And your beloved son, Augustine.

Grant me that same fortitude,
Patience and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
That God may favorably hear my plea
For

(mention your petition here)

And grant me the grace
To accept his will in all things,
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God forever and ever. Amen.

I ditto what Kathleen wrote!!!

Thank you for posting that prayer to St. Monica, Leonie.   There is also a wonderful litany in Saint Monica: Model of Christian Mothers by F. A. Forbes.

May Our Lady protect our teens living today.

The Memorare, along with the prayer to St. Michael:

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

These are both memory work for all of us (yes, even me ). Thank you, Leonie, for reminding us that our teens and even pre-teens need our prayers.

Leonie,
You couldn't have timed your bumping any better. My two oldest could use extra prayers for various reasons. Thank you so much for your vigiliant concern of all our teenagers.

Yes, mine could use these prayers most assuredly as well. And I'm going off to our weekly Sunday evening visit with our huge extended family where boatloads of tweens and teens roam. Well, that's only a tiny bit of hyperbole!

I ask St. Monica and St. Augustine to pray for me, and our tweens/teens every single day. I'm so grateful they go before me in prayer, and by their beautiful example. Thanks so much for these prayers for the ones who need to be loved when some days it's so hard to like them. Here is a website that has a litany of St. Monica, plus other prayers to St.Monica: Saint Monica Prayers

God bless them and keep them in His love.

I hope this isn't OT here, but do you find your tweens [ETA *and* teens] having to deal with tween/teen cousins that do *not* dress modestly, who talk just plain wierd, who roll their eyes at their parents ... ? How do you field their questions and concerns?

Thanks,
