My father-in-law, William, is scheduled for heart valve replacement surgery this week. In the meantime, they are trying to figure out why his red blood cell count is so low, so he's been having tests and transfusions. We were hoping the surgery would be tomorrow but of all things to happen, he broke a tooth and they have to pull it, so surgery is delayed probably till Wednesday.
The poor guy. He is in good spirits, but nervous (as are we all) and wanting to get on with it. If you have a minute, would you mind saying a quick prayer for him?
Thanks.

I'd be nervous too. And a broken tooth to boot!
Praying, Dawn. Keep us informed.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. My father in law's surgery has been set for today at noon and it will last 6 hours. Please say a little prayer for him sometime this afternoon if you have a chance. Thanks.

Dawn, I'll be praying for the surgery.
My father had bypass surgery a few years ago and his bloodcount got so low...dangerous at one point. Turns out he had an bleeding ulcer (of which he had no idea) which the heart medications (thinner) was making bleed even more. He had to have a transfusion... But once they found the cause it all worked out. But you mentioned his blood count was low, I hope they found the problem.

Update ...
My fil came through surgery very well yesterday, and in only 3 1/2 hours! He will be in the hospital recovering for 5 days and then recovering at home for five weeks more. The new valve should be fully integrated in 6 months.
We are still waiting to learn more about the abnormalities in his blood. They took a bone marrow sample during surgery yesterday so that should hopefully provide some answers.
Thank you all again for your prayers!
