Hi Ladies,
One of our nephews who is only 21 was hospitalized today. He has been preliminarily diagnosed with a heart problem called SVT. They will be doing surgery to map his heart and locate the trouble spot, so that they can, hopefully, treat it. The best case is that it's easily treatable. The worst case is that it's not and the worst case for that is a pacemaker.
This young man just finished school and started his first job. He was an infant when I moved to my then-fiance's hometown. His parents generously opened their home to me while I got established here before we married. They made it possible for my now-dh and I to live in the same city in the months leading up to our marriage. There is a very special place in my heart for this nephew.
Please pray that they have the right answer and all goes smoothly.
Thanks for your prayers!
Update 11/20- the defect is not in a fixable location. Please pray for my nephew and his parents as they deal with this.

pRaying for your nephew and his family! My dh had this in his twenties. That's usually when it shows up. It can be very scary! Dh had the surgery and it did fix the racing of his heart.
He has always had PVCs(Premature ventricular contractions)since the surgery(probably because his heart wants to race but can't because the path has been closed), which can be disconcerting if you have had you heart race like in SVT, but are considered harmless. He has recently found that the PVCs seem to be very much related to magnesium intake for him. If he does not have enough magnesium in his system he gets the PVCs a lot, when he takes enough, they go away.
Not to say this would be the case with your nephew, but thought I'd pass it along in case he has the PVCs too and wants to try another approach before the typical prescription of Atenolol which has its unpleasant and possibly unnecessary array of side effects(headaches, low blood pressure, and may not affect him now, but once married physical libido issues)
HTH! Praying for a positive and healthy resolution to the SVT for your nephew!

Thank you so much for this, Pilgrim. I will pass along the information. His surgery will be Nov 6. We're all hoping for a good outcome.

I will be praying and hoping that it is the best-case. Sounds like this part of your DH's family went above and beyond to welcome you.
