A boy in our neighborhood died this week as a result of the "hanging game", a dangerous game growing in popularity across the country among tweens and teens.
This is the second child to die in our community as a result of this "game" in the past month. Both children attended local Catholic schools. The neighborhood boy played here in my yard often with my sons. He was a kind, friendly boy.
I am asking for prayers for their souls and for their families.
God Bless,

Oh my, how very, very sad. We will pray for the repose of the two boy's souls, for their friends and for the families. Will be at church this evening and pray for them before Jesus in the tabernacle.

Oh, Rebecca!
About a year ago I read about one of these "hanging game" deaths in a Christian homeschooling family -- another kind, friendly boy, leaving behind a stunned, grief-stricken family. Ever since then I have been praying the St Michael the Archangel prayer daily for the teens of our time. I will add those boys you know and their families to my prayer. It just seems like it shouldn't be like this
edited to add link to St Michael prayer

Willa, this is an excellent idea. I will say this prayer each day for adolescents/teens. I say the prayer daily anyhow but I like the idea of praying it for our youth as they really are in a battleground.
I have been reading a book called Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco in which Don Bosco dreams extensively about the temptations of youth, the attempts of the devil to ruin their innocence/chastity and how to overcome it. I know St. Michael is such a strong intercessor in this regards. The dreams of St. John Bosco also revealed just what a powerful tool the Hail Mary alone (and the Rosary) are against evil.
