Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am so grateful for your prayers for my wonderful, courageous mother-in-law. She's very, very thankful for your prayers over the years. We're at a bit of a crisis point now, so I crave your prayers for her as she meets with her rheumatologist tomorrow, in an effort to find a way to help her minimize her arthritis pain and cope with her other health issues at the same time.

She will have a long, difficult day tomorrow (okay, today, Nov. 4!), riding to/from the appointment in a friend's car and worrying about her options all the way there. Please pray for her peace of mind and for a way forward that involves coordination of care and, if possible, a referral to a pain management specialist.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and concern. My MIL has a deep faith in God but is not a church-goer at this stage in her life. Even so, she trusts that God listens to your prayers in particular, and has been telephoning me regularly to make sure that I have asked you to pray for her.

In truth, we don't know what the future holds for my MIL or for our extended family. God does know, however, and we cling to His promise of eternal life as we watch her care for her friends (she's 80) and accept their help when she needs it (right now she can't drive, which is a severe trial to her, not that she would ever complain!). Your prayers sustain us all as we take uncertain steps and trust that God will guide our decisions and reassure us of His eternal love for my lovely MIL.

Thank you for remembering my MIL in your prayers and for praying us all through the next few days...
