Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am new here and figured I'd just jump right in and ask for prayers. My daughter,Meghan, just left for a 5 week visit with the Visitation Sisters of Tyringham, MA. She has cerebral palsy and has contacted over 40 orders through the years, and these sisters are the only ones who have ever said yes to a visit. She visited for 2 weeks in February and fit in very well, but the convent is cloistered, and Meghan doesn't feel called to that life. She is going back for this visit to attend the final profession of one of the sisters and to give herself a longer time to see if God is calling her to this life. She wants so much to follow God's will, but she is having a hard time discerning what it is. Her discernment process has been filled with much heartache and tears as the doors have always been closed to her. Now there is an open one, but she can't imagine being cloistered. I can't imagine it either .... but does God ??

I'm asking for prayers for her discernment and for safe travel for her. She is flying out of our tiny airport on a small plane and will have to change planes in Atlanta. She is in a wheelchair and this is the first time she has flown alone. Last time she visited, I sent her older brother along halfway to help her get on and off planes. I'm pretty nervous about her traveling alone, especially on a busy holiday weekend.

Thank you so much !!

Blessings,
Kym

Dear Kym,
Welcome to the boards! You've come to the right place for prayers. We'll certainly keep Meghan in our prayers. Please update us on her progress as she travels and try not to worry--she'll be wrapped in Mary's protection and guarded by angels.

Kym, I'll be sending up prayers for a safe trip for Meghan. And I'll send up prayers for her discernment process as well. I admire her persistence!

And welcome to the board! I'm sure you'll like it here!

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Meghan arrived safely in MA this afternoon and had no problems along the way. She did arrive to sad news though; the Mother Superior died on Ascension Thursday. Meghan was in tears when she called; Mother was so sweet to her on her previous visit. So, if I could ask for prayers for the community, as they celebrate the full profession of one member and mourn the loss of their Mother. The profession is on Wednesday, the Feast of the Visitation, and the funeral will be on Friday.

I will let you know how the visit goes. Thank you again for the prayers - it means so much to me to know all you wonderful moms are praying for my sweet girl!

Blessings,
Kym

Kym, what a courageous and tenacious girl you have! You must be very proud of her - I will be remembering her in my prayers, I have been thinking of her on and off during the last few days and have wanted to say this before now - your posting is for needed prayers but I feel it is also inspiring to hear about daughters such as yours.

Thank you again for all the prayers. Meghan called over the weekend and we had a very brief conversation; she only had a few minutes to talk and I got the feeling that she had much to tell me but couldn't. Also, today is her 22nd birthday. It's the first time she hasn't been with us on her birthday, and I'm especially missing her. As I was up nursing the baby last night I was thinking back to that rainy, stormy night 22 years ago in Louisiana when I was being transported from the military hospital at Fort Polk and how scared I was about having a baby at only 30 weeks. She is such a blessing to us and to all she meets; her faith radiates from her. The past few years have been difficult, with many disappointments, but she continues to strive to do God's will. I pray that He will show her clearly His plans and that we will all have peace about where He leads her.

Blessings,
Kym
