We are facing a big challenge trying to get Amy to Christendom college tomorow. We have no car in good enough condition to make the 7 hour trip one way. Hubby thought a rental car was all set but now he finds out he needs 391 dollars up front to rent the car. He also needs pay stubs and power bills. (We have no credit card). It's a big mess and also they can't get the car until later than first told. Making their starting time later. Causing poor hubby to drive well into the late night. He is going down and coming right back alone. We need some prayers for a miracle please. Amy has worked all year to pay for this second year of Christendom. I just pray she can get there.
9/22 They are on their way!

Is a train an option, Joann? We have found it is much less expensive to send Emily back and forth to TAC on a train than drive our gas-guzzling van. The college has an excellent courier system in place. I can send her one way for $40.00. It is a 4 1/2 trip.

Adding my prayers and I second the train option. You may be able to find a fellow parishioner who would be willing to take her. You could pay for gas. A retired person may enjoy the trip.

The train doesn't go to Front Royal, only to Culpepper, but if Christendom has a shuttle/courier (which I don't know, unfortunately), it might be an option.
Meanwhile, I am praying!

I know there is no train into Front Royal. And Amy checked busing and that wasn't a real option for heading into such a rural area. in past years there have been other local kids also heading to Christendom, but this year she is the only one from the area.
They head out tomorrow mid-morning. Pat is driving right down and back as soon as she is unpacked. (14 hours) Please continue to pray for them both especially hubby.
Also if a few prayers can be spared for me. I am a nervous wreck. I hate being left alone. I really depend on the emotional support from dh. In fact, this afternoon I took extra anxiety meds. (a big no, no) but I just want to feel all right. And I haven't really learned to do that yet.

I'm praying for a safe trip to/from for your husband and daughter, and for peace of mind for you. I sure wish there were other transportation options, but I used to live not too far from there and I know what it's like to try to get around in the Shenandoah Valley...not so easy.
I worry when my husband travels, too, but I find great comfort in asking God to send His angels to protect my husband (and children, if they are traveling with him) and in praying to their guardian angels and to the Blessed Mother. She sure knows what it's like to be concerned about a traveling child! I'll pray along with you tomorrow and ask your guardian angel to take special care of you. You can do this. Stay busy during the day and say a short prayer or aspiration when you start to worry.
