Hi all,
I am asking your prayers for my brother's marriage. We learned a few days ago of his years of deceit and betrayal with another woman. Our whole family is just devastated. He has two young children. We love our sister in law and she is obviously extremely angry and hurt. I believe my brother when he says he is sorry and so remorseful and shameful. He does not love this woman and will do anything to save his marriage and family. Can anyone share with me stories of hope about couples in this same situation. My brother, through his own tears, asked me if anyone could forgive someone for this. He is also very removed from church and God so he needs prayers with that as well. I am begging God to save this marriage, will you please join me?
7-18-14...ladies, please keep up your prayers, they are working..but more for spiritual healing on my brother's part. He called me today and told me he thinks he needs to go to confession!!! This is beyond anything I expected at this point. He hasn't been to confession since his FHC years ago (He's 44 yrs old) He is planning to go tomorrow at 3pm, please keep him in your prayers. God is calling him home, tears of joy!

Absolutely Missy!! As a child who lived thru this I have tremendous empathy for the family. Praying your brother really feels convicted in his heart to turn his life around. Hopefully he has realized how damaging this is for his children and can rebuild his marriage and never betray them all again.

A former spiritual director of mine told me about a woman he knew who was aware of her husband's infidelities. The husband was so brazen about it that he actually told her when he was going out and who he was going with...and for what purpose. I believe they had several children as well. With that being said, she refused to divorce him. She stayed home and prayed. From what I remember, he was unfaithful for quite a long time...but she prayed him back to their family and to the church. Last I heard, they had a very solid and happy marriage. She must be a saint.

Praying for everyone involved.
I know (from His intervention in our own family's journey as well as from praying for friends' intentions) that God does grant miracles. I will pray for some miracles here...first, that your brother will come to know God's loving forgiveness and, second, that the entire family will find peace and healing.
 Never give up; keep storming Heaven. We're praying with you.

Praying for this family, Missy. One can be forgiven for unfaithfulness with knowledge that the person who has been unfaithful has not been following God in his life. We ALL can fall and we all have our sinful nature and weaknesses. The anger and the hurt for her is quite acute right now, I'm sure, but over the years it will fade. The key now is for him to not just say the words but live with loyalty in his actions. This will take time.
Storming heaven with great empathy.
I have come to the conclusion that being married without God being at the center of marriage is really quite impossible.
If he is sincere about not wanting to lose the family, then it will take time, but she may be able to forgive him through much prayer and through looking at her own weaknesses. Counseling with a good priest may be in order for the both of them.
Is he Catholic? If he is, then her asking him to go to confession would be a really good start.
Divorce is a terrible disease in our society. Our extended family has gone through 2 this year and it is so heartbreaking for the children.
If they were married in the church, then the reflection that marriage is a sacrament and a COVENANT between a man/woman/ and God is a very good thing to reflect on. In marriage, we are helping each other to get to heaven.
I know I've said a lot here. I say it with a spirit of love for the couple and for the family.
I will keep this family in my prayers throughout the week. Praying with great empathy...

Thank you ladies for your prayers and encouragement. I am asking you to continue your prayers. As difficult as this is for our entire family and even though it has only been 4 days since we learned of it, I can already see God's hand in it all. My brother, who, like I mentioned is very far removed from God, asked me two days ago how to pray...this brought such tears of joy to me. Please, please, please continue to pray..I know God can work miracles and our family needs one!
