Please remember my children in your prayers, while praying for the sick. My 3 youngest have auto-immune diseases and that means it is possible to get another. Well, yesterday we found out that one dd also has Hashimoto disease - a sickness of the thyroid. I really don't know much about it - yet. We haven't told the girls, because there are no symptoms yet. It was discovered through a regular blood test during a doctor's visit for the celiac disease. In 6 months we go in for other tests and then will have to deal with it all. Good news is that the diet for celiac is working. Another good piece of news is that it is not my dd with diabetes and celiac who has hashimoto.
I just wonder where all of this comes from?
I used to wonder how healthy our children were until 2010.
In anycase, we are truly blessed.
Thank you.

Will pray for you, Stephanie. I understand what it's like to have children with chronic health issues.

Praying Stephanie. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about a month ago ... it wasn't a shock, though, since my mother, sister, and maternal grandfather all also have it. It's so sad to hear about a little one having thyroid troubles so young. Thankfully this disease is very treatable, even more so when caught early.

Prayers, Stephanie. That would be so hard! I have heard that many think there is a connection between Hashimotos and recommend a gluten free diet for hashi's.

I'll keep your daughter in my prayers. I think that autoimmune diseases are being increasingly linked to leaky gut. I've read various books which talk about keeping autoimmune diseases in line by eating gluten and dairy free with lots of healthy fats (especially omega-3 fats) and large amounts of vegetables and fruits for micronutrients. The diets usually differ on certain variables like grains and meats, but what they all seem to have in common is "lots of vegetables, omega 3 fats, no dairy." But I have heard the same as Lindsay about Hashimoto's being helped my a gluten-free diet.
