Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Prayers for sure, Kathryn. Our beloved sons mean the world to us, at any age.

Some additional thoughts:

One of the things we discovered with our son (introvert, Boy Scout, didn't do youth activities at our church) was that he was, indeed, unhappy with some of his social groups, but didn't feel that he had a say in changing the situation. (For Scouting, that was true - one troop for the whole county we were in...but we moved away two years later, and things improved.) Keeping the lines of communication open is so, so important, and giving feedback ("What happened?" "What would you like to change?" "How can we help?" "Should we find another (insert group name)")that shows you are on his team really helps

However, if your son tells both you and your husband that he wants to handle the situation, I suggest you let him try, especially if the troop and youth group are large. Assure him of your total support and state that you are there to help if things don't go as planned.

I do suggest some Father-Son time so that your husband can offer advice (if asked) and find out more about the situation. We've found that activities like washing/fixing cars, which are physical in nature but involve teamwork, are good for Father/Son discussions.

Remember that you always have the option of changing Scout troops if things get totally out of hand. Before considering that option, though, I would suggest spending time at weekly troop meetings to see first-hand what is going on, talking with the Scoutmaster and reviewing "if he says this, I can do this other thing" options with your son each week.
