I don't know any details, except that his kidneys have shut down. He is young (65), diabetic and an old atheist. Any prayers would be welcome .

MacBeth,

My dh's father was on dialysis 3x week for several years. He too was diabetic. (The past tense is used because he died after he got a kidney transplant -- he declined steadily after that.) He still had his life after dialysis so I think it is not the end of the world for your df.

However, my fil did get grumpy just before dialysis as he didn't feel good. Perhaps your mother or whoever is caring for him can get some extra support? Some "girls only" outings might be nice too if your mom is the one caring for him. I know that my mil had a roughish time towards the end. As we live in MD and they lived in Las Vegas, there wasn't much we could do for her or him.

We will pray for him and his caretaker.

Thanks you all for your continued prayers. Dad is irritable and cranky, which is normal for him, anyway!

Unfortunately, he and my mother do not live together, and he is in FL. It is a very odd situation, and there is not much we can do. My brother is heading down there, so I'm sure I'll have more info soon. Thanks again, Friends!
