A woman I knew slightly 30 years ago (we went to school together, weren't in the same class, weren't really friends then) who has friended me on Facebook has been threatening suicide. On Facebook. I don't know her that well, but having seen her post, I pm'd her with suicide helpline numbers and a number for Catholic Charities in her city (I'm in NC, she's in OK), and made her agree to call. Other people have obviously responded with same.
Nobody has heard from her since this afternoon. She has had a hard time, as I can't help knowing from her minute-by-minute Facebook status -- divorce, losing her kids to her ex who moved them out of state, possibly alcoholism, loss of job, now homelessness . . . it's a hard situation. And from a distance, it's hard to know what's even true -- I have been acquainted with, for example, friends' stories whose point was to gain either money for drugs or a trip to the ER to be prescribed painkillers to which the person was addicted. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that this is that kind of story. But when somebody mentions killing themselves, you have to take that at face value.
Friends in other venues are already praying for her, but I'm asking here as well: please, please cover her. Please ask her guardian angel to make her aware of his presence, and God's. I went to Mass and prayed that she would *see* her angel in some concrete, physical, and interventive way. Why not?
Anyway, thank you for your prayers for her.

Thank you for your prayers. Some old friends have gotten through to her, and people are working to get her connected with the help she needs. Praise God for all of that, and thank you all again for covering her with prayer through what must have been a very dark night.
