Fellow homeschool moms...sometimes I feel silly asking for prayers for what could be considered trivial relative to other's dire requests. However, I am really struggling (honestly always do) to get this school year planned. We are anticipating starting on Monday. My neck has been sore since Tuesday from the stress, I'm waking up with clenched jaws and now have had a headache in my left temple for 2 days. Maybe I just don't do well with deadlines but if you could pray me through the next few days or week, I know it will make a difference.
ETA: I also took up the responsibility of teaching the Catholic Mosaic co-op class that starts next Thurs so that doesn't help my anxiety. I think once everything gets under way, although I know it won't be the plan I envision, I should hopefully find some relief.
God Bless,

Praying for you, Kathryn -- God grant you confidence in your decisions and peace of mind about it all.

Now you might also try..
Take a deep breath, and as you exhale, drop your shoulders.. force them to go down.. do that a couple of times, very gently tip your head, side to side and forward and stretch the muscles oh so gently.. you're being nice to yourself here.. now yawn a couple of times and do another deep breath with dropping your shoulders.
If you want something to help.. try some lavender essential oil.. you can rub it on your temples and the back of your neck and it'll help you relax. Also there's a hyland's homeopathic called "calms" which is supposed to help with anxiety and insomnia.. it won't force you to sleep it just lets you relax so you can sleep.
Then, all you need is enough to get started and you can add to it after that.. first get your big picture.. know where your different elements for your different subjects will be.. like which book you'll read which semester or month or whatever. Have a big glass of water or maybe a cup of chamomile tea (or coffee or wine) whatever works for you to sip and stay calm. I find some music helps.. it could be classical but I often find music I know by heart and hum and sing along with to help my focus more (yes even if that means listening to Christmas Carols.. they make me feel happy to boot )
Then work on the detail for the first month or so for every subject.. and get the pressure off of yourself to do the whole year in order to start on Monday. Of course keep going while you have the momentum but get rid of the stress because it's probably hindering you more than helping at this point.

Thanks ladies! A couple of things came to me. One last night from another lady's blog:
1. Look to and allow the Lord to lead you.
2. Expect change, allow for it and ask for it if needed.
And then the other was how I come here to ask you ladies to pray for me yet I don't even ask my own family. So, I need to let them and esp. DH know in my nice voice now that I don't just need the time to find some completion before we start but that I need their boost of prayers to do so.

This is exactly where I am right now, complete with neck and head aches. I will offer up my anxiety on this and pray for you!

If you are honestly that stressed and have the co-op first class looming, why not use your "principal power" to start school the following week? Or, ease into the week with fun read-alouds after a trip to the library. (If you find that enjoyable. Otherwise, find oldies but goodies on the shelves at home.) Take a nice walk outside. No pressure, no agendas. I think sometimes, being a perfectionist myself, our own visions of what things simply "have" to be are WAY too high. Just something to maybe bring to the Lord in prayer. Why ARE you homeschooling? (ask yourself) What do I hope to accomplish spiritually first, then as a family as far as connections and THIRDLY....academically? Don't get me wrong...academics are super important...but not to the point of seriously affecting your peace. Prayers for you for peace of mind...confidence....and a great kick off!!! And, don't forget your Guardian Angel, the most under-utilized tool in the homeschooling mother's toolbox! :)

Praying for you...
Every year I feel overwhelmed, even after all these years!
But you know, most days homeschooling at our house never goes according to my exact plan, but God's!
Things have a way of always working out.
Have you looked at the Easy Peasy Homeschooling site? We are using a lot of it this year.
Used to start every year early...sometime in August. September is the month we start in and we start by doing Religion and Math and ease into the other things we are learning.
May the Holy Spirit guide you with peace. Great advice from all of these ladies!

Ok...first day down, half way through 2nd. I just needed to get started. Now the stress, frustration etc. of educating one child in particular continues.
