I come to you ladies with a heavy heart.
Back at the beginning of the month I asked for prayers for my son, as he lost his cat.
There were many things around the death of this cat that were odd to me. Now I find out why and need your prayers to work through it.
The cat was not run over as I had been told. He had been strangled. Then the issue came to, who was hurting the cats in the neighborhood. No, not just ours. Now, it is revealed it is an autistic boy 2 houses down from ours. The child is rarely supervised until most recently when someone called child protection services on the family.
So - I need to find a way to have peace within my heart. I actually feel sadness for the child. Sadness for what that house looks like, it is not a home. Nothing like what I have with my children. I believe this is the same child that had burned down the house they used to live in.
I don't think there is any advice anyone could give me to move on. I think I honestly just need prayers.
Thank you for your kindness.

Thank you. Please also pray for the boy. If this is what he is driven to his life will not be very peaceful or full of love.

Can I inject a gentle voice of caution here? I have a dear friend who has an autistic child. She is a good momma, loves this child so much and is exhausted all the time. Her house looks like a war zone. There are holes in the walls and all kinds of destruction. They patched and patched, but now the husband has cancer.
You can probably imagine what this family looks like from the outside. This child wanders off every time my friend turns her head, from the outside she appears unsupervised. This child is not malicious, but her understanding of the world is non-existant and she would certainly engage in the destructive behaviours you describe. She is not driven to it, she just does these things.
I would just encourage you to pray for the entire family, not just the boy. Raising a disabled child can be a lonely, exhausting and agonizing journey. So many families of disabled children are misunderstood.
I know you have a good heart, I do not mean to criticize, just to hold a space for grace and mercy.

I can understand the concern. Yes, there is a lot more to this family. Yes, they are in horribly sad shape. I do not want to elaborate, or air their dirty laundry. You are right. The whole family needs prayers.

Autism.. my friend describes it as having a 2 yr old with all their tendencies to get into EVERYTHING but with the reach and physical abilities of their physical age. So if you think of the 2 yr old who grasps the kitty too tightly and then imagine that with a larger stronger child.. the 2 yr old that wants to get out of the house but can't reach the deadbolt is relatively easy to keep in, the autistic child that can reach any lock you put on or knows to find a key and such.. so much harder..
It sounds like there are other problems as well, but autism is very hard on a family, and intent is more like that of a 2 yr old than age typical.
