The past few weeks our family has been reeling from the policy change at BSA. My husband is Scoutmaster, we have one Eagle, another almost done with Eagle, and one aspiring to be a Cub Scout. We have made the decision to leave at the end of the year except for a few things they've committed to through next year, but this has just been heartbreaking and difficult for all of us and for several families in and out of our parish as well.
I am posting here because my 16-year-old, who is Lodge Chief this year, has been asked to participate in a panel where people from the Archdiocese and the Council leadership (which includes my son as the youth leader) will be meeting to discuss what to do next.
I am asking
#1) that you pray that my husband will be allowed to be present at that meeting because we don't want our son going alone and that
#2) people's minds may be opened to the Beauty and Truth of the teachings of the Catholic Church, and to know how to translate these into our own lives.
Several things have happened the past few weeks that have really highlighted people's confusion about what the Church teaches, what our roles are as faithful Catholics, etc. and there are several conflicts we are facing not only within the troop and the council, but even within our own parish.
Prayers for all involved, especially for us parents and the Scouts who have to deal with this firsthand, would be much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Praying, Stef. This is a heartbreaking situation and such a devastating loss for so many young boys. May God give you wisdom, guidance, and a peace of heart in the midst of the turmoil.
