We are finally getting ready to move forward with dh adopting our oldest. It seems the time is finally right. We would so appreciate prayers for all aspects involved. The biological father is not a good person at all(including prison served since then for CSC with a 15 yo), has never seen daughter(my choice), is not on her birth certificate, etc. He has expressed interest in seeing her off and on throughout the years, which I think is out of emotional warm fuzzies more than anything. This concerns me a bit going into this, as he will likely contest the termination of his rights, so it will make the process more difficult, and will make costs higher, the longer the process takes, and the more of a stink he may try to cause.
God, however, CAN work miracles, and through the power of God the biological father COULD voluntarily sign off his parental rights. Please, dear friends, pray with us for this miracle, if it be the will of God.
We really need prayers for wisdom in choosing the perfect lawyer for us. This next week I am going to meet with the lawyers we're considering, and hopefully with the person from Catholic Social Services who would do the home study. I would truly treasure your prayers for wisdom!

Yes, Nancy is right...I will also pray for you and the professionals you will be working with. Ask St. Anthony for a good lawyer. He will help you find one.

Thank you ladies for your prayers, they are such a comfort going into this process that can be nerve-racking. We found a good lawyer yesterday(so it seems), by referral. It was hard to find someone who would accept the case, since the biological father may contest the termination of his rights. The lawyer spent a 1/2 hr on the phone with me, no charge, was very knowledgeable with such cases, AND he's Catholic! We are so grateful for the prayers, and only ask you all keep them coming. This could be a long and expensive process, or a short and easy one, through the working of God. Please pray for protection for our family also, as this man has a history of violence, temper, and criminal behavior.
We feel it is important to do this now, as she is starting to blossom and grow, and we want her to feel completely part of the family, no more having to use a different last name. We don't want her to feel like she's different or stands out from the rest of the kids/family, and as the youngest ones are growing we don't want them to start asking questions as to why she has to use a different last name, etc. and have her feel embarrassed that they are noticing.
Anyway, thank you to any and all who can pray for this intention for our family!
