Yesterday I received word that my sweet niece, 8yo Jenna in PA, was taken to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and other symptoms to include blood in her stool. She was admitted and stayed the night again last night, while they wait for test results. As the results come in, they aren't finding the cause.
Please pray for Jenna (who is being a real trooper) and her mom Sharon (my sil who is caring for Jenna,) my brother Dean (who is on his 2 week National Guard duty but may make it home today,) Jenna's 2 sisters, and my parent who are caring for them.
Thank you and know that I am praying for all of your intentions.
Love,

Thanks so much for your prayers. This is all so surreal for me. It is SO hard to be away from family during difficulties such as this.
An update from my brother:
They ran the battery of blood tests and have ruled out anything that they tested for. Since she isn’t improving, albeit not worsening, they are leaning toward an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis as a possible diagnosis. Best case scenario is that she has something viral that she wasn’t tested for and her body recovers on its own. If not, she will have to have some further testing, most likely at Danville Geisinger. She will be in Moses until at least Monday when they will assess what to do next.
Me again...
Thank you for your continuing to pray for Jenna. From what I hear she is being very strong, cooperative, and grateful for the care she is receiving. Please pray for the best case scenario (we got one for my husband just two weeks ago!) Here's my blog entry with some words of reassurance from St. Frances de Sales and the Novena we're praying for Jenna.
Oh, and I told my brother to tell Jenna that friends from all over the country and in other countries are praying for her. I bet she'll think that's pretty cool.
I'll keep you all posted.
Love,

angie, yena was born at Moses and was hospitalized there for a bit. and danville geisinger was where yena was confined when she was but a few months old. the doctors and nurses at both places were just wonderful to her and to us.
praying the novena to st. gianna for jenna and her family. and all of you as well.

Praying for all involved and you for being so far away from family. That can be so tough.

Oh, no, poor Jenna. With my own sweet 8 yo dd, this hits home. It is torture to watch a child suffer. Praying for the best case scenario.

Update:
Jenna was discharged today around 8pm. She had a challenging day that included an upper GI test early this morning. The entire test results, including today’s, have been negative. The upper GI test was specifically to rule out Chron’s disease. Our Pediatrician couldn’t definitively rule it out, but he did say that he felt the GI Specialist would probably do so. So at this point we don’t have a diagnosis. We are scheduled to speak with the GI Specialist tomorrow, and we anticipate more testing. Jenna still has diarrhea, but less frequently. Her appetite is improving and she is no longer on IV hydration or pain medication.
Oh how I am praying that this is a one-time thing...a weird infection...something that her body will heal itself within a normal 7-10 day duration. Sounds like the best case scenario to me!
Thanks so much and please keep praying!
Love,
