Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am struggling with my faith. I haven't been going to Mass..and if I don't go, no one in my family goes. I'm always the one who holds everything together, spiritually and lately I just don't have it in me.

I just feel so lost. I feel like I don't even know how to pray anymore. I've even studied other religions, just trying to find something, anything to believe in.

Last night, I cried and prayed for the first time in a long time. I can feel God trying to lead me back to church, my faith, my prayer life. I just don't know if I can do it. I'm so very tired...and it just seems like most of the time no one is listening.

Vanna, I'm so glad you came here in your struggle. That is why we are the Body of Christ - the Church - so we can help and support each other. I am praying for you.

Praying! Confession always help me soooo much to lift those burdens and give me greater resolve and ability to make those changes I know I need to make (but have not the strength to make on my own!). It would be well worth trying. God is just waiting to pour those graces down on you!

I'll pray for you as well.

If there's anything else we can do to help - bounce ideas off us, discuss, whatever, I hope you'll reach out for that as well.

Oh Vanna, I am so glad that you opened up to us all here. I agree with Booksnbabes, Confession helps so much. For me, it is purifying, cleansing, and often leads to discussions with Father that I wouldn't otherwise have. Perhaps scheduling time with your Priest will allow for these conversations to take place. You will be in my prayers.

Dear Vanna,
I was in your place so many years ago. I had doubts.
I will be praying for you daily. There have been so many times that I thought if I didn't initiate, it might not happen in our family either. I would try to think about what God wants me to do. And what does it matter if I initiate it? Later on as I look back, I am so glad I did. Now some of our children are starting to initiate church going, confession, and talking about God.
Bless you. I understand discouragement so well. It is so tiring to be the one to keep promoting the faith. Praying that God blesses the work of your hands...all that you have done for your family in the past faith-wise. That it will truly be fruitful.

Dear Vanna, may I please share with you a favourite prayer of mine?

Cardinal Mercier's
Prayer to the Holy Spirit

I am going to reveal to you a secret of sanctity and happiness. For five minutes every day quiet your imagination, close your eyes to everything visible and your ears to all external sounds and withdraw into the sanctuary of your baptized soul which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. There, speak to the Holy Spirit and say:

"O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul I adore you. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me and console me. Tell me what I should to do, then give me Your orders.
I promise to submit to everything that you ask of me and to accept all that you allow to happen to me. Just show me what is Your Will."

If you do this, your life will be happy and serene. Even in the midst of troubles you will experience great consolation, for grace will be given to strengthen and help you to cope with every difficulty.
