Our neighbor, Joe, came over tonight to tell us that he has pancreatic cancer. He is going in for a 7 hour surgery on Tuesday. Please pray for his healing and for his family's comfort, especially for his wife Maureen who has had her share of recent health issues.

Update: I just heard from Joe's sister. His surgery went way better than expected. They thought he would lose some of his liver and stomach and they both remained intact! They all seem very pleased with the surgery. He is awake and his color is good. Thanks be to God.
But, Maureen has been vomiting since last night. She is now hospitalized in the same hospital. It is a very good hospital, so she is in good hands. The good news is that they have ruled out stroke and heart attack, but think there may be a bleed like an ulcer. She has been under tremendous stress since the diagnosis, so I wouldn't be surprised if that is the issue. Please pray for her.

Thank you so much for your prayers for Joe and Maureen. I have received a couple of blessings the last 2 days that I was able to pass on to them. One in particular is that I found out the woman that sits behind us in church had the exact same surgery at the exact same hospital and is an 8 year survivor! She offered to speak to them (they are thirsting for any real information they can get about this). She also is involved in an area support group that they can utilize. When I stopped by after church yesterday with her number Joe was so incredibly grateful. It came at a good time since he seemed particularly stressed when I stopped by and I could see some relief on his face. Your prayers are being answered! Thank you again They leave today and the surgery is tomorrow morning.
