Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My youngest has spots on his teeth.

Why, Lord?   First Teresa...now Anthony. If I only knew with certainty what I've done wrong.

He has a dental appt tomorrow morning (7/26 9am).

Please pray for my little guy to handle it all well, the evaluation to not be so devastating, and for me to stay strong. I hate leaving that office in tears!

Michaela.. you've done NOTHING wrong.. some kids are just like that.. whether the dentist will admit to genetics having any say in the teeth or not. I think they're trained to say sugar is the culprit and so you MUST be doing something to give that child sugar or let the sugar in something sit on their teeth.. and they don't even hear anything else you might say.

I hate that you're having to deal with people that put you into tears over something you have no control over.

I have a dentist here that my son with teeth problems sees and it's sooooo nice that we don't go into the "blame game" and just deal with the situation as needed.

AND I should mention that my son that had spots (missing/very thin enamel) has adult teeth coming in that are JUST FINE.

It may not be decay at all, but rather a condition called "flourosis". This happens when the child gets too much flouride during the period where his or her teeth are developing.

Enamel Flourosis

Praying for your worry, it will all be alright

Michaela, I know exactly how you feel.    Our 2 1/2-yo is going in tomorrow to be sedated for extensive dental work. The dentist blames my breastfeeding but the 4 other kids were fine (and have close-to-perfect teeth) so it must be something else with this kid's mouth.

Praying for you and your little one!

Thank you SO much for your prayers! They absolutely helped us during the dental appt.

We saw a new dentist in the practice, and she was so nice. It was so quick and pain free. In under 2 minutes she had him examined, cleaned the tiny hole (cavity) on his front tooth, and filled it!!

She wants to see him monthly to watch his teeth to prevent what happened to Teresa.

I'm so sorry to hear you had to face this again, but thnakful it went well. Praying for you as you continue to work on preventing future problems.   Dental issues and littleones is a really complicated issue, so many factors - so now blaming yourself...okay...

Thinking about you and your little one. Especially since I've been through the sedation and extensive work with Teresa.

Praying all goes smoothly today.

I'm sooooo glad you found a dentist that is more interested in helping you than blaming you.. hold onto that one. We very specifically keep our kids with the dentist who's like that.. not even other's in the same practice (though I do know ONE for sure that we can still see at need.. but not the others if I can help it at all)
