Friends, our family is scheduled to have a garage sale Saturday morning. This is a fundraiser by and for my 15yo ds for a baseball training opportunity he has this summer.
My dh was called out of state this week. We've had our third family member hit with the stomach flu. I don't know a thing about yard sales .
We have a dear friend helping and can't easily reschedule due to future engagements AND the rising heat here in AZ.
In the big scheme of things, I know this small...but it feels looming to me! Please pray for peace and complete trust. And that we can pull this off and make a decent profit. Thanks! I feel better knowing that you all are praying...and perhaps some of you are empathizing with my "how did I get myself into this?" situation .
Love,

the most difficult thing is the pricing.. you can always put up a sign that says "make an offer" and go from there with pricing as you can.

and don't forget you can do tables or boxes of things that are all the same price.. like $1 or .25 cents.. pricing the bigger price items is good.. but it can save so much time to toss the 25 cent items all into a box or have clothes for $1/grocery bag (or $2 or $5 whatever the market will bear and high prced clothes get priced and displayed seperately)

I wish I lived closer and I'd come help. I garage sales! The more you can price and the neater and more organized things are, the greater profit you'll see. Can you consider having anyone do a drink/donut/cookie stand too for extra money? If you can find sodas/bottled water cheap enough and sell for 50 cents, my big kids always made quite a bit of money doing that. Their dad even bought donuts a couple times and people wanted to buy those!
Good luck...I'll pray for success.

OK, stopping in to take a mental health break . Just got back from the dollar store and have pricing stickers, posters, ...other stuff on ds's list. Dh will be back in town for tomorrow morning and friends are taking my other son to his baseball tournament. Things are hectic, but moving along well.
Kathryn, I would SOOOOOO take you up on your help . We are trying to have a small bake sale. Should I be worried about, I don't know, the health department nabbing us on something...food poisoning...see, I'm an amatuer!
Thanks so much for prayers. My ds is working really hard and has said thinks to me like, "Mom, it's just a yard sale." Out of the mouths of babes .
Love,

Thanks so much! The yard sale was a big success and...I'm healed of past yard sale wounds . Ds did such a good job, with great help and support here, that he's running another one in November.
Dd's homemade scones were a surprise hit, FYI .
Love,

I'm glad to hear it Angie! I was praying for you while I was out doing a little garage-sale shopping of my own!
