My husband has had a cough off and on for the last several years. It gets worse with each cold. Based on some breathing tests that he recently took our family practice doctor does not think it is asthma. She said she thinks it is mild "airway disease". If I understood her correctly I think she was refering to COPD. This is not good. He is only 35. He is not a smoker but he has been a firefighter on many forest fires and has worked in construction with fiberglass insulation. I'm scared.
He has an appt on the 16th with a pulmonary specialist.
Please keep our family in your prayers.

Thank you for all of your past prayers. We have been much more at ease since I last posted.
Hubby's appointment is at 9:30. Please pray for a positive outcome.
I will let you know what we find out.
2nd 11/16 update
Well the doctor has ruled out COPD. Thank God.
He thinks hubby may be prone to chronic acute boughts of bronchitis or bronchiolitis(sp) which in the future could lead to COPD if enough damage is caused. So my dh was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics for his current cough.
The doctor is not convinced that he does not have asthma. So now dh has a methacholine challenge test scheduled for Dec. 23. and orders to get another CT scan to get a closer look at what is going on.
The doctor also mentioned the possibility of brohnchiectasis.
Although the current diagnosis isn't ideal, it's much better than we had feared.

Well my husband is going in for his methacholine challenge test this morning. Please remember him in your prayers. He is feeling pretty nervous. I'm not sure what the next step will be if he doesn't have asthma.
Test was negative for asthma. Dr. wants us to schedule another CT scan...

Whew! I wonder if a daily inhaled steroid is in his future? That has done wonders for our asthma in the past when it is out of control. Praying for more easy breathing for your dh and wisdom for all involved in your dh’s care. Thanks for updating.
