Please pray for Tom as he prepares to meet Our Lord in Heaven. He's suffered for many years with MS and now with myasthenia gravis. Tom's wife, Dorothy, has mild dementia, and so there is also concern about her health. Tom's doctors don't expect him to live more than a couple of weeks.

Tom's oldest son was my brother's college roommate. All of us kids grew up together. Sacraments, graduations, weddings...they weren't complete unless we were together. We are their family and they are ours. I can't be there to visit him because we live so very far away, and I feel sad that I cannot be with Tom and Dorothy right now.

Tom has suffered for many years with his illnesses, but I know his faith is strong. He is so very devout. He's received the Sacrament of Anointing and his friends are gathering to be with him. Please pray for everyone - Tom, Dorothy, their three children and their families - and for the friends who've known Tom for decades and are finding it difficult to visit him to say their goodbyes. It is so hard to see lifetime friends fail in health and cope with debilitating illnesses. My prayer for Tom is that his children and his friends will find strength enough to be with him every single day until he goes home to Heaven, whenever that day arrives.

Thanks for your prayers. They are needed.

Update 1/22: Tom entered eternity last Sunday; I just found this out today. His funeral is this afternoon. Please pray for his soul and for his family.
