My dancing dd came home tonight with a very, very sore right knee. (Of course, she wrapped it up and danced on it... ) Regional championships are now just five weeks away. She did the RICE thing tonight, and I know I have to keep a close eye on things. (Ironically, practices for the championships intensify during the last few weeks.) Because she is on a dance team this year, her health affects not only her own participation, but that of three other dancers.
Saint Vitus (San Vito in Italian) is the patron saint of dancers.
When the Good Lord rescued us from our very first set of Navy orders (to the Republic of the Philippines, which would have been fine had the base we were supposed to go to not been buried in ash by Mount Pinatubo...so I figure we were rescued), we were sent instead to a base in Italy, San Vito dei Normanni (Saint Vitus of the Normans). Those Italian-named patron saints tend to grow on you (ask me sometime about Sant' Erasmo - aka Saint Elmo - or my trip to St. Anthony's basilica)...many of our closest friends are people we met at San Vito, and I hope the saint for whom our long-ago military home was named will now intercede for my hardworking daughter. I would hate to see her year-long efforts be compromised by a knee injury.
Please pray, too, for my dh, who also has a knee issue today. I have a feeling it is connected to his long, long, long commute (supposedly via public transport, but recently mostly by car due to long work hours), which just makes me feel sad because he gives up so much to provide for us. His job is stressful and far from home (in terms of driving/public transport time) and having an injury just makes it all more difficult.
Thanks in advance...and please know I pray for all of your intentions, particularly during Sunday Mass.

Oh no.. praying...
you know all about the ice for a fresh injury until the swelling stops and then alternating heat and ice.
pineapple and ginger help speed healing and reduce swelling in soft tissue injuries.. you can get capsules at a health food store (pineapple would be bromelain, the enzyme that is useful in the pineapple).. and together they work synergistically.. when taken together they work better than the sum of how well they work seperately. I have a rather long written explaination of how they work if you'd like me to pm you with it Nancy.
