She fell from her sister's bed this afternoon and landed on her arm (she is 16 months old). Her arm immediately began to swell so I gave her some Arnica and we were off to Urgent Care. Of course, they were not able to say with absolute certainty whether or not there is a fracture. We are scheduled for x-rays first thing in the morning. I pray her arm is not broken . She has full mobility, but as the afternoon and evening hours wear on, the swelling is worse as is her reluctance to use her arm. I gave her another dose of Arnica before bed, she's sleeping now, though I don't know how well she'll sleep tonight. I'm a wreck.
Please pray for her.
Update::
It is broken (sigh). She has a supracondylar fracture on her humerous. Right now she is in a rigid sling and our next course of action is an appointment with the pediatric orthopedic surgeon. Apparently in most cases these particular fractures require surgery to ensure proper healing.
I pray this is not the case for my little Isla. The doctor said that the fracture is so subtle, so small (he referred to it as a grade A fracture), that there is a possibility that the surgeon will recommend a cast rather than surgery. Please pray it so.
She is very sensitive (as am I), and we're both trying to put on a happy face, though our hearts are in despair.
Thank you for your prayers. Sincerely. Thank you
Update 9/15:
Thank you all, again, for your prayers for Isla. She is doing quite well now. We met with the surgeon yesterday and praise God, her fracture does not require surgical repair! They've put her in a cast for about three weeks. We chose the pretty pink one (knowing full well that her two older sisters would likely want to break their arms to get one too ). Dare I say she looks adorable? She does. Surely this is a case where this has been much harder on my husband and I, than on her.
Thank you

Chris-
If it is broken, it will heal fast at her age. My ds had a cast from a fall off the couch at 21 months.... broken arm. It is hard to see the little ones especially in such pain. I am praying for you!

Oh Dear, poor baby, poor Mama!!! Hang in there, kids are so resilient!!! I think sometimes it is us moms that suffer more than the kids when they go through things. I’ll be praying and update us when you can, okay?

Chris, Praying for Isla and you. Two of my kids have had broken bones before the age of three (both playing outside). The first time I thought I was in such despair. The second I knew the signs and got my ds to care right away. God is great they bounced back very quickly and didn't want their casts off at the end of it. Have peace!
