I'm only 31 1/2 weeks, but was not thrilled when the OB announced the location of baby's head at my prenatal visit today. I've never had breech issues before so even though the OB didn't think it was a big deal at this stage... new anxiety. What complicates things if he is breech at full term is that I've already had 2 c-sections, but had a VBAC with my third. Not only is a c-section worth avoiding in itself if you can do so safely, but a 3rd c-section is going to have more impact on future childbearing than a 1st one would. Although this doctor is actually well experienced in delivering breech, I am prepared for him either to be uncomfortable with it for some reason in my case or for him to be unavailable with no experienced breech doctor when the time comes as he now shares call. I haven't even done research yet whether I would be comfortable with a breech birth if it were available to me -- so I just consider there to be a very high likelihood of c-section if baby doesn't flip.
So, you can imagine I'm asking for prayers that he flip to a head-down position! Please ask St. Gerard, or Our Lady of Happy Delivery...

Try this for ideas:
Spinning Babies
My midwife had me look at this site because my dd was breech until just recently.
I hope it helps!

Go ahead and research.. Henci Goer's research is worth checking out especially since you have a doc experienced with breech delivery..
BUT BUT BUT.. it's WAY to early to start freaking out.. baby not only has lots of time to flip to vertex but to flip from breech to vertex and back again and again and again for some time yet
At term incidence of breech babies is something like 3-4%.. at 32 weeks it's 14%.. and at 28 weeks it's 25%
So you still have the odds in your favor of baby flipping.

my babies have never gone head down until past 37 weeks- I do tend to deliver at 40-42 weeks though...
I WAS scheduled for a version with Dominic at week 38 1/2, and he flipped that morning before the appt on his own!!
Since I have horrendous vulvular varicosities, I am always grateful for the less pressure that a breech baby provides me.
I think I'm 31.5 weeks too! maybe we'll deliver on the same day!!
oh, and crawling around on hands and knees I'm certain helped a few of mine "flip"

Well, he was transverse at the last appointment; he could also have been like transverse and not breech at the appointment before I first posted. Haven't had an OB opinion since he was deemed transverse last Monday, but we are almost sure he isn't in that position any longer, and is in all likelihood basically head down, but there is still lots of room to move so I am not confident he'll stay put if he was transverse that recently. However, it's much better than seeming to feel baby consistently horizontal! I am now about 34w3d.
My OB also said I was a candidate for a version if he stayed transverse.
One less prominent source of anxiety, anyway. Thanks for prayers. Not that I wouldn't appreciate more for all the other birth-related needs and concerns Lisa, I'll pray for you and your baby as you approach birth as well. My "EDD" is around 9/17 -- well, the one the OB recognizes is I think 9/8, but that's another story :(

Oh, I'm sorry I never updated this -- having trouble keeping track of online communications about all these different things! Thanks for all your prayers!
I'm happy to say that I think he has finally "settled in" head down as of maybe 2 weeks ago?
Also, as for two other issues I've mentioned on the board, my blood pressure has been of continued concern, but I do seem to be seeing a consistent 5-10 point drop (and at least at the store machines, that's definitely below full-blown hypertensive level) since we found someone who will most likely be able to stay with our kids overnight in our home -- she can't be there for part or all of the daytime depending what day of the week so we still need more childcare help or possibly for my husband to have to be with them instead of me some of the time, but the overnight thing was definitely my biggest challenge and anxiety.
