A dear friend of mine, Melinda a Catholic mum of six (children ranging from 15 - 1) has just been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour on her left kidney and spots in her lung, aorta and lymph.
She will be having an operation on Thursday or Saturday to remove the tumour and the kidney and to discover the extent of the cancer. She will then have chemotherapy if the cancer is not too extensive.
This is the same friend who I asked for prayers a few years back due to a big heart operation she underwent. She also tore her uterus 18months ago during birth, lost alot of blood having to have transfusions, underwent a ceasar and then it became infected ~to me she has always looked delicate of health and always perpetually tired.
This is such heartbreaking news  if you could remember Melinda in prayer, asking God to spare her for her children and her husband Peter?
Also I have another dear friend whose 15 year old daughter has been in hospital for a week so far after collapsing on the Corpus Christi weekend..she had been ill for a while with some mysterious viral condition, suffering this for at least a year...the doctors have run alot of tests and cannot find out why she is so ill. The young girl's name is Esther.

We will be keeping Melinda in our daily prayers and ask intercession for her through Blessed Mary MacKillop. It is so hard to grasp all she has been through.
And we'll be praying for answers (prayerfully easy to solve ones) for Esther's condition.

UPDATE: I feel very sad to say that the operation has taken place and kidney removed but that the cancer was, as expected, advanced renal cancer, with secondaries in the aorta, lungs and lymph system. Very little chance of cure by conventional chemotherapy.
This is such hard news...we were with her two oldest boys at the St John's bonfire night last night, two lovely young fellows and they are all dealing with this outcome...I can't help thinking as a mother would and how Melinda must be feeling,"my children!" yes, even as Bl Zelie Martin did, she knew this pain so very well.
Thank you for your prayers so far, I deeply appreciate any future prayers you offer for our dear, sweet, humble friend.
