Aussie-Anne and I have a good friend, Maureen here in Australia who is desperately seeking prayers regarding her twin brother. I thought of no better place to ask than here on this board.

As you will read it is a huge suffering and cross for Matthew and all his family. You can imagine her heartache watching her poor brother in this state.
"In the early hours of Sunday 23rd of May, my twin brother Matthew suffered a Massive Stroke to his Brain Stem. This stroke has left Matthew paralysed from the eyes down. He is diagnosed as having "Locked In Syndrome" and the doctors have given no hope of a recovery. Matthew is fully conscience, but can only communicate with the outside world by vertical movement of his eyes - the only movement Matthew has control over.
Please pray for his physical and spiritual healing".

I am hoping to find out the patron that the family might be praying to for a miracle.
Please storm heaven for Matthew and Maureen, his twin sister, and all their family.

UPDATE.........

Maureen has allowed me to offer continued updates on Matthew's progress. Here is the first update::

Recently Matthew's extended family got together and had a meeting about Matthew's care, some are very pro euthanasia. One of these members without the knowledge of all the family apply for legal guardianship of Matthew; praise God they didn't get it..

"Matthew needs to be able to swallow properly ..and gain full eye movement... if he gains full eye movement they can adapted an electronic device for him to be able to communicate... if he swallows fully this will enable him to be able to eat or drink etc... if he could get movement back in one arm and one finger he could also use an electronic device to communicate"
Obviously this is very important especailly to the family members that think his life is not worth living, he would be able to communicate to them himself how he values his life no matter what state he lives it in.

"presently he cries alot" This broke my heart...poor Matthew.

He has been very positive in offers of prayers and visits from priests, this is a wonderful sign of hope and a huge blessing. She went through the alphabet with Matthew the other day and he indicated that St Francis Xavier was his Confirmation saint so he could be the saint to implore for prayers for Matthew.

This came in an email just after this first bit of info above:
""I have just heard from my mother and sister at the hospital that it has been confirmed that Matthew has, although very slight, voluntary movement in his left thumb and finger!!!""
Very exciting news!!

recent report from 6th August:
Matthew had a setback during the week when the peg into his stomach became dislodged when he was turned and this wasn’t discovered till the next shift. He was in a lot of pain, but unable to communicate that.   
He’s had an operation to replace it, but the peg keeps blocking. He had been making some remarkable improvements getting some movement in his hands, face, leg and his vocal chords. The doctors are unable to explain his improvement as their scans show that the damage he has sustained to the pons area of the brain stem makes this impossible.
Thank you for any prayers for Matthew, I know Maureen would be very grateful.
