Legendary Bruin basketball coach John Wooden passed away today...he was such an amazing leader and inspirer of young people, and he truly encouraged each of his players to strive for their personal, ethical best. He was a man of faith with the heart of a poet. His father read aloud to his children at night - from the Bible and from his favorite poems.

Please pray for Coach Wooden's soul and for all the people who mourn his passing, particularly the young athletes who are focusing on his Pyramid of Success.

Very interesting story about him, when he was done playing and wanted to coach. He really wanted to coach for a Big 10 school. U of MN wanted him...badly. There were many talks, and the folks at the U had to confirm a few more things and told him they'd call him at 4 pm that Saturday. But, it is Minnesota. There was a snowstorm and the phone lines were down. 4 pm came and went. UCLA called him and offered him a job and he said yes. Minnesota called as soon as they could, but it was too late. For years there has always been talk about what could have happened here...
