Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dear friends in Christ

My heart has been heavy this week. The associate pastor at our Parish is being reassigned in a month. My husband and I credit him with helping to save our marriage just a few months ago so we are both quite sad. (Not that we were seriously contemplating ending our marriage, but we were in a bad place unable to find our way out).

I am also recovering from a serious accident with the children a week ago. It is a miracle we are all here. Perhaps that's why I am more emotional than usual.

Anyways, It's been a rough year and right now I don't know where I am going to get the energy or strength to do this thing called life. (I know, I know, I am praying.....);-)

Thank you so much
Rene

Rene, I will pray for you. It is always so hard to see a holy and understanding priest move to his next assignment, even when you know that time is coming soon.

I am so thankful you and your children are okay! I can't imagine what that must have been like. Your guardian angels are awesome, yes?

Prayer is important, but so is taking care of yourself and setting aside time just to enjoy being alive with your husband and family. I hope you live in a place where the weather is nice enough to permit you to spend time outdoors watching your children run around and smile and laugh. (I'm envisioning bubble wands and kickballs.)

Holding your intentions in prayer...

Thank you all so much! This is actually the second "freak" accident (another vehicle loses control hits us) we've been involved in....18 months apart and 2 vehicles totalled.....we should be a commercial. I am greatful we are all alive.....I am more than nervous about driving (though I am forcing myself to continue life as usual) We just got our new used SUV Blessed by this priest friend. I am praying my nerves will ease....

Rene, thanks be to God that you and your dc are safe! What a true blessing that your priest friend was able to leave you with a special remembrance by blessing your new vehicle before his transfer. When a beloved priest friend of ours was transferred (who also helped us through a very painful time in our marriage) we turned our sorrow over losing him into increased prayers for him. While it's very difficult to lose a priest you have bonded with, it can be helpful to thank God for all the graces He has allowed that priest to give you, and also thank God for the continued blessings He intends for the sake of even more souls through that priest moving on. Keeping holy priests for ourselves would deprive many others of the grace God wishes to transmit through them!
