Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks to all your prayers for discernment -- it looks like we'll be going back to our little village of Gaming (about 1-1/2 hours south of Vienna), Austria this Fall so Rick can study toward a DTS (doctorate in theological studies). At the same time, he'll be obtaining a Licentiate in Bioethics (licentiate is the mid-point degree between Masters and Doctorate in Europe) at the Apostolorum in Rome.

After three years or so we'll probably end up at a seminary or really Catholic college so Rick can teach -- he's a born teacher and has been somewhat overqualified to teach Middle School level (but it was also good to catch the kids so young). We don't know if we'll be back here or head into Eastern Europe -- in three years Joe and Cate will both be off to college and we'll just have the "littles" so we'll be a bit more flexible as far as where we will go.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we shift into high-stress mode: selling our house, moving kith and kin to Austria and getting rid of all the stuff we can't bring with us (and help the kids not be too upset that we can't take EVERYTHING!).

I have found that prayers from this group are highly efficacious -- please keep them coming....

Blessings to you all

Hi Mary,

Thanks for sharing all the particulars. What an enriching experience for your children!

I will continue to pray that the entire process goes as smoothly as possible!

Praying here. We're moving, too and I feel stressed, but our move is a tiny fraction of what you are doing. We'll definately pray.

Dear Mary,

I am praying for a transition to Austria that goes as smoothly as possible, invoking St. Joseph and Our Lady. How exciting for you all! I have heard such wonderful things about Gaming: I am quite jealous!

Jane.

Dear Mary,

I don't post very often but read a lot. I wanted to let you know specifically that we would pray for you. I lived in Austria for a year (near Gmunden in the Salzkammergut), and met my lovely dh there (miraculously an American living in the same village of 500 people - I'm British). It goes without saying that Austria holds a special place in our hearts, and we have had the opportunity to take our dc to see the scene of the crime, so to speak, which was also such fun!

We now live in the former Soviet republic of Georgia. Unlike some of the more western parts of eastern Europe, this area in the Caucasus is very poor, very underdeveloped, and rife with problems. It reminds me a lot of Czechosloakia and Poland in the early 90's...but more so.

I am a tad jealous and very excited for you. As I said, we will pray for al your concerns.
