My son, Charlie, left yesterday for bootcamp for the Marine Corps. It is a relief to have him on his way! But of course, I will still worry about him over the next 13 weeks. I am trying not to look down the road and worry about things that may or may not happen.

Could you please pray that God will use this opportunity to put in Charlie's path strong men of character and faith who will influence him? This young man has a lot of growing up to do. He has a baby daughter depending on him and a family that just wants to know he is living as he should.

Molly, you know you have our prayers. I've seen some wonderful things happen via the boot camp experience, although it's a very challenging time.

It's pretty hard to be a boot camp mom, too (my SIL went through this last year) and I will be praying for you, particularly that once your son is allowed to make phone calls you will be home when he telephones!

(And break out that stationery...)

Many prayers for Charlie's safety and growth in his faith and maturity. And many prayers for you, Molly.    

One of my friends and I have been sharing how difficult it can be to cast our burdens on the Lord when our children become adults! She gave me a lovely picture of Our Blessed Mother at the presentation our Lord with Simeon, and I am using it as a point of contemplation in my special prayers for my dss, along with praying a decade of that 4th mystery (recommended by a priest friend) for them.
