Well, recently we asked prayers about a possible adoption situation of a Chinese girl being treated for burns on her face and hand. We sent our application, knowing that China has not allowed an adoption by a parent in a wheelchair like my dh in about 5 years. Well, we heard from the agency. Another family has come forward for this girl, so that prayer has been answered that she would be adopted. It just won't be by us. BUT.....the agency sent a file on a very beautiful 13 year old girl with cerebral palsy who walks with canes. She's spectacular!! With our accessible house and van, and our experience adopting our Jane from China nearly 9 years ago (also having c.p.) they thought it was worth asking Beijing. Well, guess who has the first pre-approval that Beijing has been known to give to a parent in a wheelchair in quite a long time?????? We still have to send in a lot of paperwork and the agency stresses that it is technically a "pre-pre-approval" but they said that they'd never seen a family turned down who had gotten that initial "yes." We're simply overcome with Easter joy!! She turns 14 in December and ages out of the possibility of being adopted, so we'd have to do all the paperwork very quickly.
Please pray that we can get the final "ok" from Beijing and adopt this girl. I'd have to travel about 10 or 12 days, and guess where she is???? In Guilin where I've ALWAYS wanted to go!! That's an extra hug from God! If you've seen the movie "The Painted Veil" that is the beautiful place on the Li River!
There are a couple of relatives that we know will not approve, so we're keeping this OFF Facebook, ok? We're not saying anything to them until we know for sure and I have plane tickets.....
I've already told the agency that my ds Andrew is getting married October 2 and I'm not missing that, even to be in China!
Thanks for the prayers. I think it counts as a miracle. Seriously, Beijing has NEVER given a wheelchair waiver since they made that rule of no parents in chairs. We are the first!!! Praise God!

Mary Alice, how wonderful! I am praying, for sure. My aunt has CP, so I know you'll face some challenges, but you already know about them.
I am praying for this very important intention. I am amazed by your faith and persistence!
