***TWO UPDATES BELOW***
I posted a month or so ago about my step-dad being ill. They finally confirmed the diagnosis last Friday. It's terminal liver/pancreatic cancer with no treatments recommended. He's at home now on hospice, with my mother and time is very, very limited. This is so sudden as his symptoms only started after the New Year. He is 83 years old and has lived a good life but if you could pray for him and my mother, I would be so grateful. Their names are Doc and Sue. They are not Catholic but are faithful Christians.
***3/11 UPDATE PART 1: My step-dad passed away peacefully last evening at around 8 pm.***
On another note, I found out a week after he went into the hospital back in January that I am expecting baby #4. Honestly, this is not news I am rejoicing with at the moment. We had not anticipated adding to our family. I had two complicated deliveries and two of my 3 children have birth defects/special needs and now that I'm 40, I'm terrified for my physical and mental state as well as the obvious physical development of another baby. I see here and all around me those whose sufferings are so much greater and that just makes me feel even more unworthy. One child is esp. difficult on a day-to-day basis. The other child is fine day-to-day but will need surgeries in the future to correct the birth defect but sometimes the process from beginning to end can be a year-long process of correcting this bone deformity. It's all so unknown as the condition is so rare and amputation of the foot is actually the recommended treatment but there is this other path we plan on seeking. After it all, there still could be a loss of that foot and part of the leg depending on how it grows over her entire growing years and how many surgeries might be needed.
I just feel such a heaviness in my heart as to what God is calling me to do and I don't have any peace.
***3/11 UPDATE PART 2: I had a 10 1/2 week ultrasound yesterday morning and the baby looks very healthy and even woke and was kicking around and I could see a flailing arm and leg. He/she also had a very strong heartbeat. My heart rejoices with this news.
I know other's sufferings are so much greater but if you could continue prayers for me, my family and this new baby at this very difficult time, I would be very blessed.***
Thank you!

Kathryn, you have such a heavy cross to bear right now. I'm praying for you and your family, particularly your step-dad, during this difficult time.
I'm thankful that you are taking such care with your children's medical treatment plans. It can't be easy, but your children are blessed to have you and Steve as their parents.
Sometimes it helps just enough, just at the right time, to know you are carried in prayer. Please know that it's a privilege to pray for you and yours right now, and that I will be praying for your intentions throughout the holy season of Lent.

Kathryn, I can really appreciate your honesty. I have several medically intense kids with genetic issues.......I can really relate on so many levels, and know that I would feel a lot of the same things you do at the moment. Stay in this moment, right now....this breath.....that is where the Grace is.....not tomorrow, not yesterday, just right here. Oh, oh, oh...that is so HARD!!!! I love what St. Therese the Little Flower says, about Jesus being “asleep in my boat”. I both laugh and cry at that one, because it is so real.
I am praying for you, I am praying very hard that you receive consolations for all that you do, all that you sacrifice, and you feel God’s unwavering presence in the midst of your storms. He has deemed this precious child in your womb....He has had plans from the beginning of time for this baby.....just trust.....ride out the waves of anxiety and stress like labor pains....breath....pray...and trust that in the end, God wins....and you do, too!!!
Many

Kathryn I'm praying for your step-dad, the health of your baby, for you to have peace of mind, and for your family and all the challenges you face. We'll be adding you and your family to our rosary intentions. May the Blessed Mother wrap you all in her mantle.

I will be praying for you. I have a child with a rare disorder too, and I can sympathize with you the struggles, and time constraints with a special child. But, God WILL give you the grace you need. I will keep you today in my prayers and sacrifices.
