Brian and I have decided to pull up sticks and relocate our family to Kentucky. We've had several failed attempts at purchasing farms in our area. There are just so few that ever come up - we can't wait until another one does.
We're making arrangements with transferring his diaconate credits to the Archdiocese of Louisville. That's really all we need to do since he can work his business from anywhere with a phone and internet connection.
All that remains is to pack and purge. There are several people interested in renting or buying already from within our homeschooling group. And we have an agent to help us out, too.
I'm asking for prayers for a safe, smooth transition for all of us. I'm sure the reality of moving, a little hesitation will hit us at some point, but right now, we're pretty excited!
Blessings,

That is very exciting! Congratulations to you. I have a dear friend and fellow homeschooler who had a dream ... they packed up all they owned, sold their house and moved across the country to own their own goat farm . Now it's cheese and goat milk at local farmers markets for them ... what a great lifestyle! And THEY *made* it happen!
I'll be praying for you! ... very exciting

Chris,
That is *exactly* what I needed to read. I feel uplifted. That is precisely what we're doing.
...goats (and sheep) and all.
Blessings,

Best Wishes Nissa!!
May I ask? What about Kentucky 'speaks to you'? It seems like a major change from New England...did you find GOLD and not tell me?

Thank you all so much for those prayers. I'm going to hang onto them when the pack-and-purge overwhelms.
Donna-Marie - It's hard to say what exactly it is. I think that somewhere in my life I must have had the seed of romanticism planted about Kentucky. The climate is temperate. New England gets a wee bit too cold, and Texas (we lived there for a bit) was TOO hot. The archdiocese looks very good. Kentuckians tend to me more conservative than New Englanders. And there is more farmland to be had than here in MA, CT, RI area.
Blessings,

I guess I am (without realizing it at first) asking you to make me fall in love too so that will be the place WE decide to go and then I will finally get you as a 'neighbor'
Did I mention that we were praying hard for discernment and strange and wonderful things have been happening since we started our novena?? Sigh...wish I could just have a good sit-down with God and HEAR what He is trying to say. I think I am hard of hearing...

LOL. Well take a look at the link in this post (toward the bottom of page 1), and see if it makes you fall in love.

Prayers from here. We are trying to do something similar... and it's nice to hear you have several people interested in buying your place, especially in this market!

I think we'll probably wind up renting it for a while first. We put feelers out through our homeschool network and had six families within 24 hours ask after it.
Blessings,
