They've decided to sell their house, move to another state, quit their jobs (my brother makes very good money) and live off the income they've saved...apparently forever. My mom is devastated. She had hoped that my brother would stay near them (since I am not there) and help her later in life. My dad is trying to get them to see that no job is a bad idea, but I doubt it will work.

We all need prayers...me, for strength to help Mom; my brother and sister-in-law, my kids (who can't figure any of this out) and my dear husband, who once again has been reminded that he married into a family very unlike his own.

Oh my, Nancy. I'll pray for your intentions and that God will make all right through what currently seems, well, wrong.

I have some friends who retired young and it has been a real blessing for them and others around them. God works in mysterious ways for sure.

You know, I think it's OK that my brother moves north (except that he and his wife plan to spend their time rescuing feral cats...but that's her passion...). It's helping my mom come to an acceptance of this that is so hard for me. She just can't cope with events that don't match her personal plans. (That's OK; I just don't have the right words to help her.)
