My grandma has been declining under advanced nursing care for several years. It sounds like this may be the end as she has received last rites yesterday and gramps is making funeral arrangements.

She will be my first close blood relative to die - I have been blessed to know all four of my grandparents as an adult. We had planned to name our baby, due at the end of the month, after her, but this news was unexpected and will make these final weeks before my baby girl is born bittersweet.

Please pray for her...her four children...seven grandchildren (My brother and I are the oldest - the rest are much closer to her).

Stephanie,

I will hold your family very dear to my heart in the next few days. This is exactly how my grandmother passed away and I too was the oldest with my brother. It is so very hard but know that our Lord and our Lady hear our plea of peace for our grandparents.

That is very sad. My Grandma was the first relative I had die, too. Although we expected it, her passing was still very sad.

Be easy on yourself in the next weeks with you sweet baby coming. I will pray.

We drove out (4 hours) to see her with most of the family on Sunday and she was sitting up and coherent! She was murmuring her prayers in Polish when my Aunt got there in the morning. They even took her down to lunch. The sacraments are truly powerful. Thank you for all your prayers - it looks like she's going to hang in there for a while, yet.

Grams died on the 21st. Her funeral is today and since I'm 38+ weeks pregnant, couldn't go. Thanks for all your prayers thus far. Now for her soul...

(Could I also squeak in a 'selfish' prayer request here? I've had a cold and am not looking forward to delivering baby with a stuffy nose and cough - wellness and a safe delivery for me, too?)
