Ladies,
I know many of you remember when I asked for prayers for my brother's surgery for his brain cancer. He has been carrying this cross for 10 years. Though the surgery was a success, this cancer is tenacious. His latest MRI showed 2 new tumors. Treatment, experimental at best, continues.
I am at peace with this, though there is still much sadness. God's timing and the gift of suffering are beautiful and create in me a sense and awareness of the power of suffering lived out so profoundly and so beautifully in the simple days of my brother. I am buoyed up by his example. What a gift to be able to experience joy in suffering! I rejoice in how good and merciful Our Lord is in His generous supply of grace when He lovingly hands us a cross. I rejoice in the lesson of simplicity and priorities-well-placed that my brother's life is teaching my family.
I am perhaps more aware than ever that this long Via Crucis of his will not be over until he is free of the encumbrance of his physical body. Please pray for him. He needs the sustenance of prayer, and I know you all to be the best prayer warriors.
What a deep consolation it is to bring this to all of you and rest in the peace that prayer and trust in His will affords. I'm overcome with gratitude!

Oh Jennifer. I am so terribly sorry to read this. You and your very blessed brother are in my prayers. May God's grace continue to illuminate your lives as you continue to walk this journey of sorrow and grief, each time you receive news of setbacks it must be a terrible stab in the heart.

Oh, Jen...I am so sorry for the heaviness of this cross...but very thankful you are here..and your brother's witness is here and far reaching even to those of us who may never have the chance to see him in person. Suffering is a mystery....but a beautiful one. We'll walk together as we carry our various crosses Please keep us posted.
