DD #2 was stung by something a week ago today while we were at the lake. It showed the usual swelling, but yesterday became redder and warm in a ring around the site, so today I took her to the doc. Immediately it was diagnosed as cellulitis and the Dr. began talking about IV antibiotics. Thankfully, they gave her a shot of Rocefrin, an oral antibiotic, oral steroid, and steroid cream with stict orders to go to the ER if it goes outside of boundary drawn on her arm today.
Please pray that this will stop the infection and nothing further will be needed. It was quite scary, for both DD and Mama. Thanks!

The site is not warm to the touch this morning, and the redness seems to be easing. It appears the Rocepfrin is doing it's work. Thank you so much for your prayers!

Oh my goodness! My sister has been in hospital with this same diagnosis for over a week now and just had a pic line inserted in her chest. Praying all is well with your child, I will be including your intention in my prayers. God Bless.

Yesterday's Dr. visit was very positive. there is no swelling and only slight bruising where the infection was. She needs to finish the antibiotic, then she'll be cleared. Thank you very much for your prayers--they were/are appreciated!

Glad it seems to be getting better.
Just wanted to add that IV antibiotics are not that terrible. I had them about 9 years ago. The visiting nurse came to my home and put in the IV, and I gave myself the antibiotics on the schedule provided. No hospitalization at all. I wasn't attached to an IV pole at all. Just taped the lead to my arm when I wasn't using it.
So, if it comes to it, don't worry. :)
