Hi Ladies,

I am scheduled for thyroid surgery on Oct. 6th. I have a mass on the left side that will be removed, and possibly the whole thyroid will be removed. There is about 60% chance that I am facing thyroid cancer, which would involve a follow-up treatment as well. So I am asking for prayers that that I do not have cancer, that I am able to keep half of my thyroid, that the surgery goes smoothly with no complications and for an easy recovery.

UPDATE:

Thank you, ladies, so much for praying!!! After consulting with a surgeon friend of the family, I am seeking a second opinion with a head and neck surgeon who deals primarily with thyroid issues and has a very good reputation. I have an appt for Oct 13th, and the Oct 6th surgery is canceled. My parents especially are relieved, and I am feeling much more peaceful about the situation and more confidence in this surgeon. After talking with the nurse, it sounds like surgery is still the plan, but I don't know when it will be. I'm sure it is answer to prayer that the head and neck surgeon is willing to fit me into his schedule so soon. They initially couldn't see me til the end of Oct. If you are willing, please pray also for Mr. Vander Woude's intercession on my behalf. I will update again when there is more to say, but I think the next 2 weeks will be much calmer. In the meantime, I will be praying also for your intentions. Thank you again for reading and praying. My family and I are so grateful for your prayers!

Prayers, Mindy! I was sooooo close to having to have thyroid surgery as well...I suppose it's not really off the table, just not imminent any more. Anyway, all that to say, I'm praying with a whole lot of empathy!
