Charles Albert arrived last Thursday night 6 weeks early. He weighed 5 lb 13 1/2 oz and was 17 1/2 inches long.
Charlie will be spending a couple of weeks in the NICU gaining weight and learning to eat. He is fighting jaundice right now and sleeps a lot but he has nursed a few times. The surgery was the most painful one I've ever been through...but he's here and is actually quite healthy. We are very blessed.
A side note on Charlie's name... we were having a terrible time agreeing on a name so I started praying that the patron saint of this child would intercede for us so we would know the name of our son...Albert was my grandpa, whom I loved very much and it was always a possibility of a middle name. Well, when I was scheduling the baptism at church,(my uncle was ordained a deacon in January and since he's from a different diocese I wanted to make sure he was on for the baptism and had time to go through all the formalities) November 15 was the only day available...which turns out to be the feast day of St. Albert the Great! Charles is derivative of my husband's name...he looks like a Charlie!
I can't find my original post when I asked prayers for this pregnancy...after 5 miscarriages I was a bit nervous. Thanks for all the prayers! So many moms lately have been experiencing sorrows I cannot even imagine and I continue to pray for each of them. My words are so inadequate I will stop now. Dena
