Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My family and I firmly believe that my sister has post partum depression, but she won't acknowledge it or even consider it seriously. It is manifesting itself in physical symptoms. Her reactions to things because of this is causing serious marital problems. Please pray for her that somehow, someway she will seek help.

Thank you so much to everyone in advance. I just don't know what to do. I'm worried sick about this.

KC,
I'll be praying - this is so hard. Anybody know which specific saints would be best to ask intercession of?
Keep us posted.
God bless,
Angela

Praying for her! I believe I was healed of post partum depression by God with the intercession of St. Philomena. Actually, I prayed *before* I was pregnant, to get and stay pregnant and not have PPD afterwards. I got pregnant that month and did not have PPD like I did with my first two babies.

St. Philomena is my favorite site on her.

KC, your sister will definitely be in my prayers. I personally experienced denial with PPD. Discussions here greatly helped me once I admitted to suffering with PPD. If you are able, I would suggest speaking to her husband privately and possibly even giving him some reading material so that he understands what's going on and that it's very real and gives her the time and support she needs to work through this--without pushing or pressuring her. I kept this from my husband and it was a mistake--I wouldn't do that again. Praying...

I think I might be the queen of PPD denial . It was Molly's honesty that made me confront my own PPD and have a serious discussion about it with my midwife. It takes much, much longer to recover if someone is putting all her energy into denial instead of recovery.

I'm praying that such a supportive family will help her to know she has a safe place to admit that she's less than perfect and needs some help handling the challenges in her life.

KC, I'm praying too. We went down this path with my sister-in-law and it was incredibly distressing. I can easily imagine how you must be feeling.
