Has anybody ever been excused from jury duty due to the important role of home schooling their children? Please pray that my request to the court to be excused due to the education of my children, including special needs child, will be accepted. Thank you!

Praying that you find a way. I was excused recently in Australia due to breastfeeding a baby.

Each state has their own regulations on that. I also was recently excused for breastfeeding an infant.

I was not passed over for Jury duty. You can request a postponement til the Christmas break, Easter break, or summer. Breastfeeding is a viable excuse, homeschooling is not.
I went, they asked us at the door if we were prepared to stay for up to two week if we were picked for the jury. I explained to the Officer that I was homeschooling and was there any way I could get out of it, she said no, but I could ask the Judge when he talked to me, it was up to him to excuse. Fortunetly, there were 104 people there and they need 75, I was not one of the 75 picked, I do not know if the Officer had a hand in that or not, but I was very thankful.
I will be praying for you.
God Bless
Robynn

I have been excused every time due to homeschooling. I write a letter to the Clerk beforehand so I don't even have to show up the day they pick the jury.

I **barely** squeaked out of it because I was nursing a baby and the primary caregiver for our children. I was un-nerved thinking I might have to serve anyway.
Prayers that you will be excused!

I have been excused twice, once when I was 3 months pregnant (the VERY nice lady said, "Oh, you can't sit for that long!") and once a couple of years ago. I simply wrote on the form that I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. I'll pray that you are excused!

Being military and moving around so much, I was never summoned before. I sent my letter in the very day I received the summons. Still waiting for a response.
Thank you all for praying for the situation. I will let you know.

I was just summoned, and was excused by a phone call because I have children under age five at home. I prayed before I made that call!
Anyway, a hsing friend with older kids told me that she had to show up to the courthouse, but when she explained that she was the primary caregiver and educator of her children, and that it would be a hardship on her children, as well as on any person that she may or may not be able to find to care for them AND instruct them, the court excuse her without problem.
Perhaps they were concerned about having as string of children file into the court each day...you know how we homeschooling moms can me ANYTHING an educational field trip!
Praying that God will give you an out.

I'm praying for good results from your jury duty exclusion. Isn't it just ridiculous to have to request an exclusion when being not only the primary caregiver but also a teaching homeschooling mother? I pray for all good things for you. God bless.

One of my friends was not excused when she had a 3 month old nursing baby. Another was excused with a 10 month old baby on formula. Same county!
I was called when my mother was terminally ill and I was her primary caregiver (as well as prim. caregiver to 3 kids, 2 of whom were 10 months and 2.5 yo). I was given a postponement, which only delayed my calling by 6 weeks. I was not allowed to postpone again, even though mom was still with us but worse. She died the week before I had to report, my dh was overseas for 3 weeks with the reserves, and I still had to report. Guess what, I got picked for a jury, even though I had terrible bronchitis and was coughing all through the courthouse! They had to recess the trial a couple times b/c I couldn't stop coughing Luckily it only lasted 4 days. The trial was about distribution of assets in a divorce. The divorce had already been decided, this was only for the assets. One woman claimed she could not be impartial b/c she was Catholic and didn't believe in divorce, and got excused on that!
I got called again 2 yrs later and had to report but didn't get picked.

I've been excused due to breastfeeding several times. Once I had completely forgotten to report and was telephoned by the court to tell me a sheriff would be coming to pick me up and bring me for jury duty in 20 minutes.
Shocked, but inspired by the Holy Spirit , I squeaked out, "But I'm a breastfeeding mother," not even knowing that that was considered an excuse, but it was. Praying you are excused.
Peace,
Nancy

Thank you all for praying for my intention! I received a response today stating that my jury duty is deferred until July and for me to make arrangements. At least I can "plan" for that one! Thank you again.
Praying for all intentions on this list as well.

What a relief and thanks for letting us know. Perhaps more brainstorming and prayers can be offered up closer to July .
Love,
