it is now 4 am and we got a call from Becky who is supposed to deliver a wedding cake at 10 am to her girlfriend's wedding. The three tiers had slid off themselves and smashed on the floor--Becky,Dad and I are trying to figure out what to do so something can be made for the wedding----
Prayer may be the only thing that can help....
What an ordeal!!! What a family story that will last for generations!!!!
I got the call at 2:11am with Becky crying,( she was making the cake at Grandma's--for safety reasons!!) the top two layers of the wedding cake(each "layer" was three cakes stacked together--to be delivered at 10am were on the floor---the rasberry filled middle layer had slid--smashing to bits!!!
Daddy jumped out of bed yelling "we will be right there!" I stopped him--we needed a plan... we met Becky at Walmart--20 minutes away--from opposite directions---we bought two premade round birthday cakes--to dismantle and used the cake for the top---we bought cakemix--I started baking three middle layer chocolate cakes as soon as we got to grandma's...(grandma and grandpa never awoke, even with a power saw cutting dowels and the mixer mixing)
Becky made frosting between crying---daddy wrapped cake boards after he returned to the walmart, 20 minute drive away, for parchment paper--(Walmart is really, really creepy at 3am.
We knew what we were doing and Becky got to work and the cake was finished at 9:30am--delivered on time, and everyone loved it---according to my three big boys who attended the wedding--daddy, becky and I came home and went to bed, and just got up at 6pm----so goes the everyday adventures at the "crazy little house!"
Check out the beautiful beautiful cake which wouldn't be here without many, many prayers.....I included Our Blessed MOther on my blog post, because this is exactly what I saw when I looked out the back window at my mom and dad's at about 6am--She did not let us down---

Oh Joann!!!  I am so, so sorry to hear that this has happened, I can't imagine Becky's stress levels!! Praying, that this can SOMEHOW be rectified!

Wow, I'm crying too. Your family is amazing. What a testament to family love and support!
I'm sure the bridal couple was thrilled...the cake was gorgeous.
